ULLENHALL PARISH COUNCIL

Minutes of the meeting held on Tuesday 2nd February 2010, at 7.45pm, in Ullenhall Village Hall.

OPEN FORUM

We welcomed, Phil Ward, Rural Housing Enabler, WRCC. He gave a talk on Affordable Housing in Warwickshire, how S-on-A District has a shortfall of 1,000 homes and how the main issue for these homes is centred around affordability.

An issue was raised regarding the provision of sandbags, and this will be made an Agenda item for the March meeting.

A comment was made as to how the Emergency Plan information can be cascaded out to residents. It may be produced in leaflet form to be available at the Parish Assembly Meeting.

MINUTES

Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on Tuesday 5th January 2010 were agreed and signed.

Meeting open to County and District Councillors for comments

County

Warwickshire has been able to keep on top of the road gritting during the recent bad weather. Ullenhall does have a few grit bins around the village which the County keep topped up.

The X20 bus service from Birmingham, through Henley, to Stratford, is to have later runs from April 1st 2010 to enable shoppers and theatre goers to get home.

The next Community Forum is on Wednesday 10th February in Studley Village Hall.

District

The District Council are recommending a 2.5% increase in their portion of the Council Tax.

The refuse collectors continued to give a good service during the recent bad weather conditions and the Post Office also provided an excellent service.

John Maples is to stand down and a selection committee sits on February 9th 2010 to decide on his replacement.

A letter has been received from a resident regarding the closure of the public toilets on Windsor Street in S-on-A. The letter will be forwarded to Cllr. Atkinson who will respond.

CHARITY FIELD

MATTERS ARISING

a. Hard Court area on the Charity Field, future prospects. It is a ‘Use it or Loose it’ situation. Cllr. D.Waller will investigate the cost to disconnect the electricity to the site.

b. Parish Assembly Meeting, a provisional date of May 13th was agreed, with May 20th as the alternative. It was suggested to contact David Howe as a speaker for the event.

OUTSTANDING ISSUES

Several Ullenhall signs are missing, these have been reported and are due to be replaced. The Crowleys Close sign has been damaged, this has been reported. Some of the railings along Watery Lane have been knocked down, netting has been erected as an interim until they can be replaced.

‘Adopt a Kiosk’, formal consultation in progress for the removal, by BT, of the telephone, and

adoption by the Parish Council of the telephone box. Ideas from residents will be sought as to

the possible use of telephone box after adoption. Comments will be requested at the

Parish Assembly Meeting.

It was agreed to monitor the restoration of verges by current developments.
